Getting in the boxing ring for a good cause

On the 4th May, Harwood Building Control Project Manager, Alison Trimmer, took to the ring for her first, (and definitely last), boxing match to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Action.

Alison underwent 10 weeks of intensive training at Kent Gloves boxing gym with Women’s Charity Boxing and, although she didn’t secure a win on the night, survived all three rounds of two minutes each and emerged relatively unscathed.

Despite Alisons fantastic performance, she isn’t in a rush to get back into the ring;

“I’m pleased I took part and raised over £700 for Ovarian Cancer Action but I don’t ever intend to be hit in the face again!  Or hit someone else – which was one of the most difficult things I had to do! I will now be hanging up my gloves and retiring from boxing!”
